In a letter to Frau Rosin (1953 May 17), Purrmann discusses the fate of the Villa Romana in Florence and his attempts to negotiate the release of his paintings held by the Italian government. In a letter to Herr Rosin (1955 April 18), he explains why he has rejected a price awarded him by the senate of Berlin, and comments on tendencies in modern and contemporary art, mentioning Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Erich Heckel, Max Pechstein, Otto Dix, Pablo Picasso, Werner Gilles, and Georg Meistermann.
